So what’s a dirty great off-roader doing in a feature on cabrios? Well, the versatile Jeep Wrangler IS a convertible as it comes with a removable hard top. To be honest it’s a bit of a fiddly operation to remove the so-called Freedom Top, but if we get a decent spell of weather this summer it will be worth it.
The Wrangler has boxy looks that hark back to the Jeeps of old, much better road manners than previous models and it’s a quieter drive too - though still a tad harsh compared with more run-of-the-mill cars. But it’s fantastic off-road and possesses a real fun factor that’s missing from too many cars of today.

Mopar and Moab put Jeeps to the test
Mopar and the Mopar Underground team showcased their customized Jeep vehicles and Dodge trucks at Moab Jeep Safari 2008 this spring.
“Jeep engineering has been coming to Moab for years. Mopar is at Moab to test, evaluate and prove the authenticity of our Mopar Performance Parts for Jeep vehicles and Dodge trucks on the most grueling off-road trails in Moab,” said Simon Boag, President ñ Service & Parts/Mopar, Chrysler LLC.
Overseen by Ralph Gilles, Vice President of Jeep/Truck & CFM Design, the Mopar Underground design team has been customizing production vehicles since 2002.
The Mopar Underground design team creates vehicle concepts meant to develop performance parts, accessories and customization as well as new vehicle concepts. In fact, the first-generation SRT4 was born from this team’s style initiative.
